what we do

Hi neighbours, I’m Sam Parrington the Mildmay Community Centre’s community outreach worker.  As you can see from our amazing community organisers, we have lots of interesting community led projects currently happening at the centre. Please contact me directly on if you have any ideas for groups or activities that you would like to see at the centre.  We highly encourage local people to start and run their own groups and are here to give support, encouragement, and advice to help you make it happen.  It could be anything from a cultural celebration day to a weekly or monthly group.

We are particularly interested in creative activities/exhibitions and healthy eating activities and ideas, as well as activities for children and older people.   We are currently looking for local parents, carers, or childminders to come and start a stay and play and also someone who is interested in running a community café. So please do get in touch.  And of course, please do contact our community organisers or admin worker if you would like to join any of the groups that are already up and running.

GREAT NEWS – As some of you are aware, many parents and carers in our community have been pushing for us to start a youth club for local children and young people, especially as there is no other provision in the immediate local area. Thanks to the national lottery we now have some funding to get the club up and running.  However, in order to sustain the club, we will still need support from other grant funders, local businesses, and community volunteers.  If you have any fundraising skills, ideas, donations, or any contacts who you think could help, please let me know.

The club will give space for children and young people to make new friends, build their confidence, social skills and life skills, through informal learning activities and workshops.

The club is due to open to children aged 9 to 16, on Thursday 10th February 2022 between 5pm to 7pm. Places are FREE but will be limited to 25 local children and young people.  For more information, please email the places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.  Children and young people who live on the Mildmay estate will be given priority.
